The Tourist
Travel Guide of Iloilo City using Android is an information system developed to
guide tourists within Iloilo City. It is a system developed using MIT Android
Application and Google Maps which also includes a GPS(Global Positioning System)
receiver for determining the current location relative to the target
destination. It also offers data on the distance of the destination as well as
the estimated average travel time to get there.
This
project is geared on promoting tourism and attracting tourists to the said
city. Using data and information from the Iloilo City Tourism Office, it will
serve as a tool for users to find their desired location with details and
background information about the place. Because of the historical background
and details provided for each landmark or place of interest, the users can
easily identify their destination without the need for another application. With
the added guide on the Google map using GPS, the user is provided with a set of
routes in getting to the destination selected including the shortest, as well
as a set of alternatives and also includes estimated taxi fare from the user's
current location going to his/her destination.
This
system will be useful for all potential users for fast, convenient and easy
travel around the city.
